The panel discussed economic shifts and the responsibility of sustaining a family legacy, highlighting the UAE’s growing support for family enterprises through clearer frameworks and registration systems. The conversation also touched on how these developments are shaping the future of family-led businesses in the region. It concluded with a tribute to the Seddiqi family, winners of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award 2024, honoured for their excellence and forward-thinking vision.

BEHIND THE WATCHES WE CHOOSE

Design moves forward when creators look beyond what already exists, and this shaped a conversation between Manuel Emch, Co-Owner of Kolokium and Louis Erard, and Sohaib Maghnam, Founder of Maghnam Watches and CEO of Beda’a. Manuel reflected on how true identity begins before the product, touching on collaborations, the freedom independents have to experiment, and the importance of creating pieces that feel complete rather than overcrowded by layers.

The discussion also explored what it means to design across two distinct worlds, one instinctive, one built for collectors, and how balancing these perspectives keeps ideas fresh without diluting character. Together, they highlighted how thoughtful evolution, not repetition, is what allows a design to endure, reminding the audience that imagination is still the driving force behind the watches we choose.

LAUGHTER TO CLOSE THE WEEK

To close its seventh edition, Dubai Watch Week brought a refreshing twist with an evening dedicated to comedy. Comedian Shawn Chidiac delivered a light-hearted finale that filled the room with warmth and humour. It offered a warm reminder that alongside the craft and conversations that define the week, moments of shared laughter create memories that stay with us just as strongly.
