DE BETHUNE UNVEILS THE DB KIND OF TWO JUMPING GMT

De Bethune continues its exploration of duality and precision with the launch of the DB Kind of Two Jumping GMT at Dubai Watch Week 2025. A compelling study in contrasts, this limited edition timepiece unites contemporary complexity and classic elegance with two identities expressed through one extraordinary mechanism and case.

ONE WATCH WITH TWO FACES

Rooted in Enlightenment-era horology, the idea has evolved from multi-faced clocks to iconic pocket watches. Here, De Bethune gives the genre a distinctly modern twist, allowing the wearer to effortlessly flip between two dials, each offering a different aesthetic and function, yet both powered by a single movement.

The contemporary side of the watch reveals the mechanical soul of the piece with an open display centred on a balance wheel at six o'clock, flanked by polished bridges, microlight textures, and gold gear wheels. The jumping GMT and seconds complications add a kinetic rhythm, underscoring the brand’s technical fluency. At its centre, a titanium deltoid-shaped bridge reinforces visual harmony while ensuring mechanical stability.

The reverse dial takes on a more traditional tone, with a guilloche centre, curved 5N gold hands, and warm gilded hour markers.

A SMOOTH TRANSITION

The seamless transition between dials is made possible by a case design as clever as the movement itself. Crafted from polished grade 5 titanium, the 43mm case incorporates De Bethune’s signature floating lugs, which adapt to the wrist for optimal comfort. An internal swivelling mechanism allows for a precise and durable flip between the two faces, while 42 meticulously engineered components ensure resistance to water, humidity, and temperature change.

Despite its visual and mechanical complexity, the DB Kind of Two Jumping GMT is intuitive to use. The crown at 3 o’clock adjusts the home time shown on the contemporary side. Pulling it out to the second position allows the user to set the second time zone on the classic GMT face. This elegant interface ensures that the technical sophistication remains invisible during operation, which is another signature of De Bethune’s philosophy.
