Geneva, February 2010, This year the legendary design house Pininfarina will be celebrating its 80th anniversary. Eight decades during which the Italian firm has succeeded in outshining all others, particularly for its collaborations in the boat and automobile fields. To honour this jubilee, nothing could symbolise it better than a prestigious timepiece. The Italian design house therefore chose logically to opt for the approach on which it has built its renown: working in partnership with the best craftsmen in the profession. This philosophy led Paolo Pininfarina, Chairman and CEO of Pininfarina Extra, to find the ideal partner. It was in BOVET and its values that he recognised his own likeness. Indeed after his first meeting with Pascal Raffy, the owner of BOVET and DIMIER, no doubt remained: Pininfarina had found in BOVET the historic brand whose excellence, savoir-faire and philosophy exceeded the criteria of the demanding specification.

The immoderate passion shared by both men for perfection and aesthetic beauty, as well as the nature of the project itself, could not fail to bring this innovative partnership into being. And there can be no doubt that a genuine partnership was created. Designers and technicians worked constantly in very close collaboration to ensure that their mutual effort surpassed the sum of its parts.

The curtain will rise on the outcome of this prestigious association in June 2010 at the Château de Môtiers, the property owned by BOVET in Môtiers. This jewel, a Tourbillon Grande Date, has been specially developed and manufactured in its entirety by the design office and watchmakers of la Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Artisanale DIMIER. This sumptuous timepiece, the fruit of two years relentless work, will be proposed in a limited edition of 80 pieces. It will undoubtedly please lovers of the finest watchmaking techniques imbued with a unique historical heritage personified by the illustrious House of BOVET, as well as those filled with passion by the curves and lines that hallmark the purity and style of Pininfarina’s elegant aestheticism.
