Inauguration of A. Lange & Söhne Precision Watchmaking Exhibition

His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, inaugurated the highly anticipated A. Lange & Söhne fine watchmaking exhibition on 8th September 2010, at Dubai Mall. The opening ceremony was also attended by Abdulmagied Ahmed Seddiqi, Chairman, and Mohammed Abdulmagied Seddiqi, Vice President Sales & Retail, Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, and Matthieu Dupont, Middle East Brand Manager, A. Lange & Söhne.

The ‘A. Lange & Söhne Performance Watchmaking’ exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to experience the true essence of precision watchmaking, for which the internationally acclaimed German brand is renowned.  A. Lange & Söhne is recognised for its constant quest to stretch horological engineering limits, and its contributions to the world of performance watchmaking; the brand’s timepieces rank amongst the best, and most exquisite, in the world.

“At Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, our passion for time pieces is well established; it is therefore a great honour to be a part of such a unique exhibition. A. Lange & Söhne is the perfect brand to share their vast experience and expertise in watchmaking, with their combined history, technical and design innovations, and commitment to education. I look forward to continuing our great partnership and further developing our mutual devotion to informative social initiatives,” said Abdulmagied Ahmed Seddiqi.

The inauguration ceremony saw the unveiling, and Middle East premiere, of the very limited “165 Years - Homage to F. A. Lange” Collection, an incredible trilogy of timepieces created to commemorate the founder of the precision watchmaking industry, Ferdinand A. Lange. The TOURBOGRAPH “Pour Le Mérite”, the LANGE 1 TOURBILLON, and the 1815 MOONPHASE, created in a novel patented honey gold alloy, combine state of the art tradition with contemporary micro mechanical ingenuity.

The captivating exhibition features four fascinating educational zones. The first is ‘The History of A. Lange & Söhne’, displaying historic Lange pocket watches on which modern day marvels are still based. The second outlines ‘The Six Steps in Precision Watchmaking’ and offers outstanding insights into the world of haute horology specific to the brand. In the third zone ‘Craftsmanship in Luxury Watchmaking’, there is a live expert demonstration of the intricate art of engraving, whilst the last zone, ‘Making of the Trilogy’, is a tribute to the awe-inspiring “165 Years - Homage to F. A. Lange” Collection.

“We are excited to bring this exhibition to life in the Middle East. This region truly appreciates the splendour of fine watchmaking and it is an honour to be collaborating on such an event with our long-term and esteemed partner, Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. Not only is this exhibition an incredible opportunity to share our passion with the public, but also to offer visitors an enlightening insight into our continuous quest for perfection, true craftsmanship, and very exclusive luxury watchmaking ,” added Mr. Dupont.
