Ahmed Qasim SeddiqiLate Founder
Ahmed Qasim Seddiqi’s extraordinary vision led to the creation of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons – one of the most successful watch retail companies in the region.
Born on the 21st of Ramadan 1915, Ahmed Qasim Seddiqi was the only child of Mr. Qasim Seddiqi. From a young age, Ahmed Seddiqi embraced the family’s business philosophy and worked with a family member who dealt in general trading.
Ahmed Seddiqi studied in Dubai and his introduction to what would become a lifetime passion for high quality Swiss watches came from the imported magazines which featured advertisements of the latest Swiss watches.
His impressive collection of Swiss watches began with the purchase of a West End watch from a dealer in Kuwait. His eye for detail, particularly the functionality of the watch and appreciation for these high-end watches, inspired him to establish connections with prominent Swiss watch retailers. With loyalty one of the key values of the company, Ahmed Qasim Seddiqi established the company’s first franchise agreement in the 1950s with the West End Watch Co. and this franchise continues to the present day.
While working for the family business, the young entrepreneur spent every free moment looking through newspapers and magazines for the latest brand or watch movement. Soon his exclusive collection caught the interest of local watch enthusiasts and as the demand for purchases grew, he ventured into Bahrain to purchase more collections.
His travels took him throughout the region, but never as far as Switzerland however he ensured that his children and grandchildren both visited and studied in Switzerland to build on the family’s expertise in Swiss watches.
His dedication and interest in Swiss watches became a reality when the first Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons shop opened in Souk Bur Dubai. As the business venture grew from a single shop in Dubai’s covered Souk to a formidable network of close to 55 elegant stores in some of the Gulf’s finest buildings, Ahmed Seddiqi maintained his focus by offering quality Swiss watches to an array of clients, including royalty and politicians.
He furthered this through his exclusive franchise agreements with the world’s leading Swiss watch companies and he assured it by keeping Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons a tightly controlled family operation.
The company’s values of family and tradition were instilled by Ahmed Seddiqi – he was an only child and his dream was to have a large family so he could spend lots of time with them. Despite managing and leading an international business, Ahmed Seddiqi dedicated his free time to his three sons and only daughter and this philosophy remains in the company today.
He dedicated the flourishing business to his family – creating a platform for his children and future generations to take pride in their own company and continue his vision.
